Deuba faction meets again today to agree on new name
The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Deuba led Nepali Congress splinter group is being held Sunday morning after leaders yesterday failed to agree on the new name to be given to the party, which is yet to be registered at the Election Commission.
CWC member Pradeep Giri proposed that the name of the new party should be Nepal Congress (Socialist, Republic). But other CWC members did not agree on the proposed name. Some CWC members proposed that the party should be named as Nepali Congress (Deuba) while others supported the name Nepali Congress (Bisweswor, Ganesh Man).
After the Election Commission decided in favour of Girija Prasad Koirala and gave the symbol tree and the party flag to the Koirala led Congress on Sept 16, it has asked the Deuba faction to register a new party within a week.
The deadline given by the Election Commission for the registration of a new party expires on Monday.
