Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat, who is currently on a visit to India, held a meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Friday.

In a statement, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the two ministers expressed satisfaction over the steady developments in bilateral relations and discussed the need of continuation of high level exchanges of visits between the two countries.

The two leaders noted the progress made recently in the implementation of bilateral development cooperation projects and agreed on the need of further expediting such projects including the ones related to post earthquake reconstruction, the statement said.

MoFA as well as Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said they talked about the upcoming local level elections in Nepal. Mahat reportedly thanked India for providing logistical support for the elections.

Mahat flew to New Delhi from Singapore today to participate in a symposium organized for the Delhi-based non-resident ambassadors accredited to Nepal on the theme of enhancing economic cooperation.

Mahat is scheduled to return home tomorrow.
